Privacy Policy for SynMind

Last Updated: March 4, 2026

Thank you for choosing SynMind ("we," "us," "our," or the "App"). We are committed to protecting and respecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your information when you use our mobile application SynMind, available on Android and iOS platforms (collectively, the "Service").

Please read this Privacy Policy carefully. By downloading, installing, accessing, or using SynMind, you acknowledge that you have read, understood, and agree to be bound by the terms of this Privacy Policy. If you do not agree with the terms of this Privacy Policy, please do not access or use the Service.

  1. Overview

SynMind is an ambiance and focus application designed to help users relax, concentrate, and improve their well-being through curated and customizable ambient soundscapes. The App is designed with a privacy-first, offline-first philosophy. We believe that your personal data belongs to you, and we have intentionally designed SynMind to minimize data collection to the greatest extent possible.

Key Privacy Highlights:

  • We do not collect personal information such as your name, email address, phone number, or physical address.

  • We do not use analytics, tracking, or telemetry services.

  • We do not use crash reporting or performance monitoring tools.

  • We do not require user registration or login.

  • The App works fully offline — an internet connection is only needed for in-app purchases.

  1. Information We Collect

2.1 Information Stored Locally on Your Device

SynMind stores the following data exclusively on your device using a local database (Hive). This data is never transmitted to our servers or any third-party servers (except as noted in Section 6 regarding purchases):

  • Theme Preference: Whether you have selected dark or light mode. Purpose: To remember your visual preference.

  • Language Preference: Your selected language (e.g., English, Turkish). Purpose: To display the App in your preferred language.

  • Onboarding Status: Whether you have completed the introductory walkthrough. Purpose: To avoid showing the onboarding screens again.

  • Premium Status: Whether you have an active premium subscription. Purpose: To unlock premium features while offline.

  • Custom Ambiances: Ambiances you create, including their name, selected sounds, background image, and category. Purpose: To save and play your custom sound combinations.

Important: None of this data constitutes personally identifiable information (PII). It is purely functional application data required for the App to operate as intended.

2.2 Information Collected by Third-Party Services

When you make an in-app purchase, our payment processing partner RevenueCat and the respective app store (Google Play Store or Apple App Store) may collect and process certain information. Please refer to Section 6 and Section 7 for detailed information about third-party data processing.

  1. Information We Do Not Collect

We want to be completely transparent about what we do not collect. SynMind does not collect, store, process, or transmit any of the following:

  • Biometric Data: We do not collect fingerprint, facial recognition, voice print, or any other biometric data.

  • Communication Data: We do not read your SMS messages, emails, or any other communications.

  1. How We Use Your Information

Since we collect minimal data and all of it is stored locally on your device, the use of information is limited to:

4.1 Providing Core App Functionality

  • Theme Preference: Applied to display the App in your chosen visual theme (dark or light mode).

  • Language Preference: Used to display all text and UI elements in your selected language.

  • Custom Ambiances: Stored so you can create, save, and replay your personalized sound combinations.

  • Focus Mode Setting: Used to enable or disable the focus system features.

4.2 Managing Premium Features

  • Premium Status: Cached locally so that premium features remain accessible even when you are offline. This status is synchronized with RevenueCat when an internet connection is available.

4.3 Improving User Experience

  • Onboarding Status: Used to determine whether to show the introductory walkthrough, ensuring returning users are not shown the onboarding flow repeatedly.

We do not use your information for:

  • Targeted advertising or marketing

  • User profiling or behavioral analysis

  • Selling or sharing with third parties for commercial purposes

  • Training machine learning or artificial intelligence models

  • Any purpose other than providing the core functionality of the App

  1. Local Data Storage

5.1 Storage Technology

SynMind uses Hive, a lightweight, high-performance local database for Flutter applications. Hive stores data in binary format within the App's private storage directory on your device.

5.2 Storage Location

  • Android: Data is stored in the App's private internal storage directory. This directory is sandboxed by the Android operating system and cannot be accessed by other applications.

  • iOS: Data is stored in the App's Documents directory within the iOS application sandbox. This directory is protected by iOS security mechanisms and cannot be accessed by other applications.

5.3 Data Encryption

The locally stored data (theme preference, language setting, custom ambiances, etc.) does not contain sensitive personal information and is therefore not encrypted at the application level. However, both Android and iOS provide device-level encryption that protects all app data when the device is locked.

5.4 Data Deletion

All locally stored data is automatically and permanently deleted when you uninstall the App from your device. You can also delete individual custom ambiances within the App at any time. There is no cloud backup of this data, and once deleted, it cannot be recovered.

  1. In-App Purchases and Payment Processing

6.1 Overview

SynMind offers optional premium features that can be unlocked through in-app purchases. We use RevenueCat as our purchase management platform to handle subscription and purchase logic.

6.2 How Purchases Work

When you make an in-app purchase:

  1. Payment Processing: The actual financial transaction is processed entirely by the Google Play Store (Android) or Apple App Store (iOS). We never see, receive, store, or process your credit card number, bank account information, or any other payment details.

  2. Purchase Verification: RevenueCat communicates with the respective app store to verify your purchase receipt and determine your entitlement status (i.e., whether you have an active premium subscription).

  3. Entitlement Caching: Your premium status is cached locally on your device so that premium features remain accessible while offline.

6.3 Data Processed by RevenueCat

RevenueCat may collect and process the following data in connection with purchase management:

  • Anonymous Customer ID: A randomly generated identifier used by RevenueCat to track purchase entitlements. This ID is not linked to your personal identity.

  • Purchase/Transaction Records: Records of in-app purchases and subscriptions for entitlement verification.

  • Device Platform: Whether you are using iOS or Android, to communicate with the correct app store.

  • App Version: The version of SynMind you are using, for compatibility and support purposes.

  • Entitlement Status: Your current subscription or purchase status (e.g., active, expired, etc.).

Important: RevenueCat does not receive your name, email address, phone number, or any other personally identifiable information from SynMind. The customer ID used by RevenueCat is generated anonymously and is not linked to any personal account or identity.

6.4 RevenueCat's Privacy Practices

RevenueCat processes data in accordance with its own Privacy Policy. We encourage you to review RevenueCat's privacy practices:

6.5 App Store Privacy Practices

All financial transactions are handled by the respective app stores. Please review their privacy policies for information about how they process payment data:

  1. Third-Party Services

7.1 Services We Use

  • Customer Support: Intercom, Zendesk, Freshdesk, Drift

  • Maps/Location: Google Maps, Apple MapKit, Mapbox

  1. Permissions

8.1 Android Permissions

SynMind requests the following permissions on Android:

  • POST_NOTIFICATIONS: To display a notification while audio is playing in the background, allowing you to control playback without opening the App. This permission is optional — you can deny it and still use the App, but you will not see playback controls in your notification shade.

  • WAKE_LOCK: To prevent the device from sleeping while audio is playing, ensuring uninterrupted playback. This permission is automatic and does not require user approval.

  • FOREGROUND_SERVICE: To keep the audio playing when the App is in the background. This permission is automatic and does not require user approval.

  • FOREGROUND_SERVICE_MEDIA_PLAYBACK: A specific type of foreground service permission for media playback on Android 14+. This permission is automatic and does not require user approval.

  • BILLING: To enable in-app purchases through Google Play Billing. This permission is automatic and does not require user approval.

Permissions NOT requested: Camera, Microphone, Location (Fine or Coarse), Contacts, Phone/Call Log, SMS, Storage (External/Shared), Calendar, Body Sensors, Nearby Devices, Bluetooth, Background Location.

8.2 iOS Permissions

SynMind does not request any special permissions on iOS. The App does not require access to your camera, microphone, location, contacts, health data, or any other sensitive iOS permission category. Audio playback functionality works within the standard iOS audio session framework without requiring additional permissions.

  1. Audio and Media

9.1 Audio Content

All audio content in SynMind is pre-embedded within the application package. This means:

  • All ambient sound files (in .ogg format) are bundled with the App at installation time.

  • No audio is streamed from external servers.

  • No audio is downloaded after installation.

  • Audio playback is entirely local and does not require an internet connection.

9.2 Audio Playback Technology

SynMind uses the just_audio Flutter package for audio playback. This library plays audio files locally on your device using your device's built-in audio capabilities. It does not transmit any data to external servers.

9.3 Background Audio

When you enable background audio playback:

  • A foreground service is started (Android) to prevent the operating system from terminating the App while audio is playing.

  • A notification is displayed showing the currently playing ambiance with playback controls.

  • No data is collected or transmitted during background playback.

9.4 User-Created Ambiances

When you create a custom ambiance:

  • Your ambiance configuration (name, selected sounds, background image, and categories) is saved locally on your device.

  • This data is not uploaded, synchronized, or shared with any server or third party.

  • You can delete your custom ambiances at any time from within the App.

  1. Notifications

10.1 Local Notifications Only

SynMind uses local notifications only. This means:

  • Notifications are generated and displayed entirely on your device.

  • We do not use push notification services (such as Firebase Cloud Messaging, OneSignal, or Apple Push Notification Service) to send notifications from our servers.

  • We cannot send you marketing messages, promotional offers, or any other remote notifications.

  • The only notification SynMind displays is the audio playback control notification that appears when ambient sounds are playing in the background.

10.2 Notification Content

The playback notification displays:

  • The name of the currently playing ambiance

  • Playback control buttons (play/pause/stop)

  • No personal information is displayed in notifications

10.3 Controlling Notifications

  • Android: You can grant or revoke notification permission at any time through your device's Settings > Apps > SynMind > Notifications.

  • iOS: Notification management follows standard iOS settings. Navigate to Settings > SynMind > Notifications.

Disabling notifications will not affect the core functionality of the App, but you may lose the ability to see playback controls in your notification shade while audio is playing in the background.

  1. Internet and Network Usage

11.1 When Internet Is Used

SynMind is designed to work fully offline. An internet connection is only used in the following situations:

  1. In-App Purchases: When you initiate a purchase, restore a purchase, or when the App checks your current subscription status with RevenueCat.

  2. Font Loading (First Launch): Google Fonts may be loaded on first launch if not available in the device's font cache. After initial loading, fonts are cached locally.

11.2 When Internet Is NOT Used

  • Playing pre-made or custom ambiances

  • Creating or editing custom ambiances

  • Changing theme or language settings

  • Navigating through the App

  • Viewing the onboarding screens

  • Any other core App functionality

11.3 Connectivity Detection

SynMind uses a connectivity checking mechanism solely to determine whether an internet connection is available before attempting purchase-related operations. This check:

  • Only determines whether a network connection exists (Wi-Fi, mobile data, etc.)

  • Does not collect, store, or transmit any network information

  • Does not identify your network, IP address, or carrier

If no internet connection is available, the App gracefully falls back to cached premium status and all features continue to work based on the last known subscription state.

  1. Children's Privacy

12.1 Age Requirements

SynMind is not directed at children under the age of 13 (or the applicable age of digital consent in your jurisdiction). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under the age of 13.

12.2 Parental Guidance

Since SynMind does not collect personal information, does not require account creation, does not display advertisements, and does not include social features, it is generally safe for users of all ages to use under parental guidance. However, parents should be aware that:

  • The App includes in-app purchase functionality. Parents should ensure that appropriate purchase controls are enabled on the child's device.

  • The notification permission prompt may appear when the App is first launched.

12.3 COPPA Compliance

Since we do not collect personal information from any users, including children, SynMind is compliant with the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA). If we become aware that we have inadvertently collected personal information from a child under 13, we will take immediate steps to delete such information.

  1. Data Security

13.1 Security Measures

Although SynMind collects minimal data and stores everything locally, we take the following security measures:

  • Application Sandboxing: All locally stored data is kept within the App's private storage directory, which is sandboxed by the operating system (both Android and iOS). Other applications cannot access this data.

  • No Data Transmission: Since no personal data is transmitted to our servers, there is no risk of server-side data breaches for user data.

  • Secure Purchase Processing: All financial transactions are processed through secure channels provided by Google Play and Apple App Store, which employ industry-standard encryption and security measures.

  • Minimal Data Collection: By design, we collect the absolute minimum amount of data necessary for the App to function. This "data minimization" approach reduces the risk surface.

13.2 Platform Security

Your data benefits from the security features provided by your mobile operating system:

  • Android: Full-disk encryption (enabled by default on modern Android devices), application sandboxing, SELinux mandatory access control.

  • iOS: Data Protection encryption, application sandboxing, Secure Enclave for cryptographic operations.

13.3 Limitations

While we strive to protect your information, no method of electronic storage is 100% secure. We cannot guarantee absolute security of locally stored data, particularly if your device is compromised (rooted/jailbroken), lost, stolen, or accessed by unauthorized individuals.

  1. Data Retention

14.1 Local Data

  • Retention Period: Local data (preferences, custom ambiances) is retained on your device for as long as the App is installed.

  • Deletion: All local data is permanently and automatically deleted when you uninstall the App. Individual custom ambiances can be deleted from within the App at any time.

  • No Backups: We do not maintain any server-side backups of your local data. Once deleted, data cannot be recovered by us.

14.2 RevenueCat Data

  • Purchase and entitlement data managed by RevenueCat is retained in accordance with RevenueCat's data retention policies.

  • App store purchase records (Google Play, Apple App Store) are retained by the respective platforms in accordance with their own policies.

  • For information about how long RevenueCat retains data, please consult their Privacy Policy: https://www.revenuecat.com/privacy

14.3 App Store Data

  • Google Play and Apple may retain purchase history and transaction records independently of our App.

  • This data is governed by their respective privacy policies and is outside of our control.

  1. Your Rights and Choices

15.1 Data Access

Since all data is stored locally on your device, you inherently have full access to your data at all times through the App interface. You can view your:

  • Current theme and language settings (in Settings)

  • Custom ambiances (in My Ambiances)

  • Premium subscription status (in Settings)

15.2 Data Deletion

You have the right to delete your data at any time:

  • Individual Custom Ambiances: Delete specific custom ambiances from the My Ambiances screen.

  • All Data: Uninstalling the App permanently deletes all locally stored data.

  • Purchase History: To manage purchase-related data, contact Google Play or Apple App Store directly.

15.3 Permission Management

You can manage app permissions at any time:

  • Android: Settings > Apps > SynMind > Permissions

  • iOS: Settings > SynMind

15.4 In-App Purchase Management

  • iOS: Manage subscriptions through Settings > [Your Name] > Subscriptions

  • Restore Purchases: You can restore previous purchases within the App if you reinstall it or switch devices.

15.5 Opt-Out

Since SynMind does not collect analytics, display ads, or perform tracking, there is nothing to opt out of. You are already in the most private configuration possible.

  1. International Data Transfers

16.1 Local-First Architecture

Since SynMind stores all user data locally on your device, there are no international data transfers initiated by us for user data.

16.2 Third-Party Transfers

RevenueCat may process data on servers located in the United States or other countries. When you make an in-app purchase, the anonymous purchase data may be transferred to and processed in jurisdictions different from your own. RevenueCat ensures appropriate safeguards are in place for such transfers. Please refer to RevenueCat's Privacy Policy for more information.

16.3 App Store Transfers

Google and Apple may process purchase-related data internationally in accordance with their respective privacy policies and applicable data protection laws.

  1. Changes to This Privacy Policy

  • The revised Privacy Policy will be effective immediately upon posting.

17.2 Review
